While Industries are "private" companies that perform applied research, to patent new therapeutic approaches when they are likely to lead to profit, the Academias are "public" entities that search for basic knowledge, to shed light on the biological mechanisms of psychiatric and behavioral diseases.

Supported Public Project: ADHD-sythe.

The present project is aimed at establishing new animal models of ADHD and novel therapeutic approaches. There is also a couple of more "clinical" aims whose progress you can track.   

This project will achieve these PRECLINICAL goals:  1) to validate innovative animal models for ADHD, whose alterations in DAT/SERT function are generated by a lentivirus-mediated manipulation of in vivo genetic expression within selected brain areas;  2) selection of novel possible receptor targets, development of new molecules, and preclinical evaluation of the novel drugs as a promising field of therapeutic intervention.
